Atmospheric Sciences Seminar

"The ozone layer depletion: its science, policy, and implementation" with A.R. Ravishankara, Colorado State University.

The Montreal Protocol, aimed at protecting Earth’s ozone layer, is hailed as one of the most successful global environmental treaties. I will briefly describe the science behind the protocol, the policies that were developed and adopted, and the implementation of the policy.  I will also describe the current issues facing the protocol and my personal views on what worked, why it worked, and what to look forward to.
