The Art of Healing the Earth

Biodiversity for a Livable Climate welcome documentary videographer and soil scientist Dr. John D. Liu for a talk on the concept of ecosystem restoration cooperatives.

Dr. Liu is Director, Environmental Education Media Project (EEMP) Visiting Fellow, Netherlands Institute of Ecology (NIOO), Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences, Ecosystems Ambassador, Commonland Foundation. Liu filmed the transformation of the Loess Plateau in China from totally desertified land into an abundant, productive and carbon sequestering landscape, convincing him to become a soil scientist. He has documented large-scale ecosystem regeneration in many countries and is now introducing the concept of Ecosystem Restoration Cooperatives where people can learn regenerative agriculture skills while helping to restore degraded lands.
