The Madhouse Effect: How Climate Change Denial in the Trump Era is Threatening our Planet, Politics, and the Public

The university community and the public are invited to a lively Harvard Kennedy School conversation with award-winning Penn State climate scientist Michael Mann and Pulitzer Prize-winning Washington Post political cartoonist Tom Toles. Through science, cartoons, and satire, the speakers will take a provocative look at the polarizing climate wars in the Trump era and years past. Their novel collaborative book, The Madhouse Effect [2], provides a powerful counterpunch to climate change denialism in the face of overwhelming scientific consensus.

The HKS event is sponsored by the Belfer Center Environment and Natural Resources Program and the Shorenstein Center on Media, Politics and Public Policy and co-sponsored by the Center for Public Leadership and the student Sustainability, Energy & Environment PIC. Both Mann and Toles have long been committed to communicating with the public about climate change denial and the need to take action to combat climate change. Free and open to the public. Refreshments served.
