Harvard Energy Journal Club

http://www.hejc.environment.harvard.edu [1]

A student-led club that meets weekly to deepen members' understanding of the technical details of energy technology and science. Pizza lunch is provided.

The topics discussed serve as fantastic preparation for students considering entering the energy sector upon graduation and offer a critical perspective for students interested in energy more generally. We generally cover the following topic areas:

- Non-Renewable Resources (e.g. Oil, Gas, Coal, Nuclear, Carbon Capture & Storage)

- Renewable Resources (e.g. Solar, Hydro, Wind, Biomass/fuels)

- End Uses (e.g. Residential/Commercial/Industrial, esp. steel, concrete, etc.)

- Transportation (e.g. CAFE standards, technologies for various shipping modes)

- Infrastructure (e.g. urban energy, electric grid, electricity storage)

- Relevant other fields (e.g. thermodynamics, social science, climate, funding & policy, economics & finance)

The HEJC is open to members of the Harvard and MIT communities. A technical background is not needed.
