The Union of Concerned Scientists was founded in 1969 by scientists and students at MIT. UCS founders were passionate about using scientific research to solve pressing environmental and social problems, and away from being used for military technologies. Today, the UCS still holds true to that mission by using science to advocate for societal and environmental change.
