A Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the American Academy of Microbiology, and the American Society of Plant Biologists, she was named one of [Cell](https://www.cell.com/)’s 100 Inspiring Black Scientists in America, and was the winner of the 2021 [Cynthia Westcott Scientific Writing Award](https://gardencomm.org/Westcott-Scientific-Writing-Award).
