Join the HKS Center for Public Leadership for a conversation with Joseph Aldy, HKS Professor of the Practice of Public Policy and former Special Assistant to the President for Energy and Environment, on "Environmental Policy After the Election."
Harvard community members are invited to a discussion with Joseph Aldy, HKS Professor of the Practice of Public Policy and former Special Assistant to the President for Energy and Environment (2009-2010). Hosted by Rand Wentworth, who teaches "Environmental Politics" at HKS, and moderated by Emily Fry MPP 2021, Aldy will draw on his experiences in the 2008 - 2009 presidential transition to discuss how to get effective climate and energy policy passed in 2020 - 2021. Aldy will reflect on a possible climate-oriented stimulus in the event of a Biden-Trump transition, and how to boost the economy whilst paving the way towards medium term climate and environmental goals.
Aldy is a leading environmental economist, whose research focuses on climate change policy, energy policy, and more. From 2009 to 2010, he served as the Special Assistant to President Obama for Energy and Environment. It was in that role, and on the presidential transition that preceded it that he was a key White House staffer, that Joe negotiated with Capitol Hill on the Recovery Act that included $90 billion for green goals.
