Kevin Boyce, Professor and Chair, Department of Geological Sciences, Stanford University, will present "Flowering Plants and the Evolution of Terrestrial Ecology and Environments."

Abstract: The flowers themselves are often the primary focus when considering angiosperm evolution, but the vegetative biology of flowering plants also represents a departure from other plants. I will discuss angiosperm transpiration and assimilation capacities in the context of the fossil record and explore the potential impact of flowering plants on climate, plant ecology, and the carbon cycle.

Visit the event page for more information.
