The Harvard University Center for the Environment and the Salata Institute for Climate & Sustainability invite you for a conversation with Emily Fischer, Associate Professor, Department of Atmospheric Science, Colorado State University, and Daniel Schrag, Director of the Harvard University Center for the Environment.
Emily Fischer is an atmospheric chemist and Associate Professor in the Department of Atmospheric Science at Colorado State University. Fischer has distinguished herself in many areas of science and also in science communication and education. She is a member of Science Moms, a group of climate scientists working to communicate about climate change to mothers in the US. As a new faculty member, Emily launched a program called Promoting Geoscience, Research, Education and Success (PROGRESS), experimenting with new approaches to mentoring female students in STEM fields through a variety of professional development efforts as well as access to female mentors and role models. She has also focused her attention on removing obstacles to student success in geoscience fields, including ways to prevent sexual harassment during field work.
