Moderated by Sarah Zoen, Associate Director, Pillar Two.

With new regulation on mandatory due diligence for both people and planet on the rise across the globe (the EU, Germany, France, Canada, etc.), efforts to bring environmental and social governance together have considerable potential for lasting change. Even prior to regulation, many companies were already thinking about innovative ways to connect business functions to embed and implement an approach that looks at both together, so they are mutually reinforcing. Although ESG may seem separate from the international development agenda, human rights and environmental due diligence requires engagement, participation, partnership and voice from rightsholders and stakeholders across the supply chain. We will hear from experts from two different sectors about how they see this playing out in their work and where there are opportunities for companies to strengthen commitments and initiatives at the local level to respect human rights and promote a just transition. We will cut through the alphabet soup of ESG, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), Human Rights Due Diligence (HRDD) and the European Union’s Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD) and will give participants real life examples to help make sense of it all. Hope to see you there! This is a hybrid event open virtually to the public and in-person at the Harvard Kennedy School for members of the Harvard Community. Lunch will be served.

Visit the event page for more information and to register.

	Contact: kapfelbaum@hks.harvard.edu
